I take great delight in watching the birds eat from our feeder! It’s especially fun when I hear the blue jays call out to let me know they’re hungry. We also have visits from cardinals, finches, red wing black birds, sparrows and even a woodpecker and more.
As the summer season is soon coming to an end, I like to spend as much time sitting out on the back patio. Time passes too quickly and before I know it, winter will be here. Well today is going to be hot, so I decided to have my devotions with the Lord outside before the heat rises, and I must say it was most rewarding…
As I gazed at His magnificent wonder around me my heart was captured…
I said,
“Lord how wonderful You are. I see You in all of Your creation. How lovely as I hear the song birds singing their song of praise to You. They each have a melody of their own in harmony with heaven and seem to fly with great freedom from branch to branch without a care in the world.” The scripture in Matthew 6 verse 26 says God our Father feeds the birds of the air and we are much more valuable to Him, then they are. He even sees the sparrow that falls and cares for them, so how much more does He care for us.
My eyes were then drawn to the hibiscus flowers that beautifully blossom only in August. This is their appointed time to smile and shine in all of His glory. Their beauty is short and soon will fade, but in their moment of time they glisten with glee, drawn to the light of the sun. Then the scripture in Isaiah 40 verse 7 says,The grass withers and the flowers fade as the Lord breathes upon them. We too are like the blades of grass, here for a season and then we are gone. I believe, this is my appointed time to shine in all of His glory for the whole world to see Jesus living in me. I will enjoy to the fullest all of His blessings that surround me moment by moment. This year happens to be my first time planting a pot garden and I’ve watched them grow and flourish from a seed to an abundant flow of food to nourish my body. I’m reminded that as I sow the seed of God’s word in my heart, it will also feed and nourish my soul and spirit giving me life. Psalm 119 verse 50. What an awesome God we serve!
For as the flower and grass are refreshed with the dew in the morning, so is my spirit and my soul renewed and refreshed this morning! I sing in all of His glory as He reminds me to focus on His blessings instead of my burdens. What great peace and joy I’ve received from Him today. I say, “thank You Lord for Your love and faithfulness! I sit here in awe of Your creation with lovely and pure thoughts that replace all my burdens and care. I know what I’ve seen with these eyes is just a mere taste of what’s yet to come. As I gaze up at the blue sky I can only imagine what a day that will be when the trumpet sounds and I hear Your voice and see Your face.” I know in my heart it will be even greater than my mind could ever fathom…
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
