In Romans 8: 5 it says for those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, keep their minds on the things of the Spirit. To be carnal minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. What does that mean? How can we keep our mind in check? Spiritually minded? How is it possible? We do have control of our minds and we can keep them pure and spiritual if we keep our minds on spiritual things.
First step is to keep our eyes on Jesus, when we look to Him our thoughts are focused on Him. It also says in the word to renew our minds and we can do that through reading and meditating on one scripture and take it with us and watch the power flow through us everywhere we go and in everyone we meet we can be a blessing. There are so many things in this world that can distract us and carnal minded is worldly minded. Distractions cause dissatisfaction and disappointment. Think with me for a minute what captures your mind when you first wake up and throughout the day…are you worried about things that have to get done and how are you going to do it all. Well how about waking up in the morning and lifting your heart and mind to Jesus and sit at His feet and give Him all your cares of the day and let Him take care of them for you. A beautiful promise is found in 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your care upon Him for He cares about you. He cares and He is alive, and He loves you and will work out all that concerns you, all you have to do is give it to Him, it’s that simple. If we don’t take these steps each day we are walking in our own strength and depending on ourselves to make it through. In Romans 8:14 it says those who are led by the Spirit are truly the sons of God. So, let us stay focused and listen to His faint whispers throughout the day so we can live a life of joy walking in His presence wherever we go. A sweet sanctuary of worship, in communion with You In the depths of my heart, in whatever I do, In Your beauty of holiness, I’ll humbly dwell, whispers of Your love, telling me all is well, Your garment of praise, each day I shall wear, the spirit of heaviness, I’ll never bear, sweet Spirit of God, daily rests upon me, with Your understanding, new wisdom I’ll see, Your counsel You give me in the still of the night, when I’m weak, I’m strong, in the power of Your might, Sweet Spirit within me, all things are brand new Works You do through me, never thought I could do I now walk in the spirit how can this be? as I seek Your face, You come alive within me. Hallelujah !! Amen
This is how I want to live everyday and it is possible only when I keep my mind on Him and let Him have His way.
