When I first began my journey with the Lord after experiencing a bout of depression here are some of the exercises I did to overcome and step by step I was on my way to a new life in Christ. I journalled each day and published my book titled, “A New Peace of Mind” Here is an excerpt taken from my book the “Faith Exercises chapter ” pg.37,38. {This book is available in paperback on Amazon.com}
I CHOOSE…
To become better, not bitter.
To make changes, not excuses.
To be motivated, not manipulated.
To be useful, not used.
To excel, not rebel.
To succeed, not fail but listen to the Lord and not the opinion of others.
C-H-A-N-G-E
C- take Courage.
H-don’t let change Hinder but Help you.
A -Accept the need for change.
N- Necessary for growth.
G- Gain strength and knowledge.
E- Excel in the Excellency of Christ.
I WILL P-O-S-I-T-I-O-N Myself
P- Position myself in Christ, Prepare my heart for the present and future. John 4:14
O- Overcome the world. Rev.3:21
S- Sow seeds in my heart from the word. Ps.119:142
I- Invest my time with God. Matt.6:33
T- Trust in Him. Prov.3:5,6
I- His Inheritance I receive. Ps.16:5-11
O- Operate from the power of God living in me. Gal.2:20
N- Neglect not the gift within me, my new birth into a living hope. {1Peter 1:3}
Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup, You have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places surely, I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. {Psalm 16:5-8}
~Opposition can change your position in Christ so be on guard and don’t let it happen. Don’t accept any propositions from the enemy. He roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He comes to steal, kill and destroy, but Jesus came to give life in abundance~ {John10:10}
EXERCISE to EXCEL in the EXCELLENCE of CHRIST
I WILL forget those things which are behind.
I WILL reach forward to the things that are ahead.
I WILL press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. {Philippians 3:13,14}
I WILL exercise my faith in God every day.
I WILL pace myself for the race that is set before me.
I WILL consider all things at a loss, so I gain Christ. Phil.3:8
I WILL be found of Him and know Him and the power of His resurrection. Phil.3:10,11
I WILL discipline myself according to God’s word and discover a life living in abundance that Jesus promised in {John10:10}
